Dark rum is essentially rum that has been barrel-aged longer than its Golden and Light Rum counterparts. Typically dark rums are used for drinking straight due to their distinctive deep flavours however there are no rules and quite often the boundaries between types of rums blur so however you like your rum - enjoy!
